Waving the Barriers.

Role: Experiential Design

The Problem

The pathway leading to Tulane University's library is currently obstructed by unattractive barricades, which prevent cars from passing through while still allowing access for service vehicles when needed. How can redesigned barriers and environmental graphics transform this space into something more visually appealing and functional?

The Insight

Tulane's branding and color scheme are underutilized mainly in the campus's environmental design, presenting an opportunity to create a more cohesive and visually engaging space.

The Solution

This abstract system of outdoor furniture, sculptures, and environmental graphics incorporates Tulane branding to enliven the space, creating a vibrant and engaging environment.

The sculptures function as discreet car barriers, seamlessly blending safety with artistic expression. Designed to invite interaction, they serve as both public art and functional infrastructure.

The wave-like couches transform the strip into a dynamic social hub, taking inspiration from Tulane’s Green Wave mascot. These organic forms encourage rest, conversation, and connection, reinforcing the university’s identity through immersive design.
